PoleFun Studio is a boutique style pole studio situated in Gate Pa, Tauranga. It was the first pole business in the Bay of Plenty and has been operating since October 2006. Initially presenting pole dancing parties; mostly for hens nights. In 2007 the studio was opened and offered pole lessons, along with providing a venue for parties. With the recent popularity of burlesque, we have added burlesque parties as an alternative to a pole party.

We have an Elite 50mm static pole and a 45mm static/spinning pole in the studio. Our portable poles are 50mm Lil' Minx.

Jennifer - PoleFun Studio Owner, Pole and Burlesque Instructor

Jennifer has a background in martial arts, competitive bodybuilding and teaching circuit training both at a gym and to female prison inmates. She has also done yoga, Thai Chi and is trained in a number of healing modalities. Jennifer also does various latin dancing - salsa, merengue, bachata, zouk, rueda and tango...and zumba!

Jennifer is often asked how she got into pole dancing. “Well, I was going to social salsa lessons at the Buddha Lounge in Tauranga. I met a couple of ladies there. One of them - Dee and I were sitting out a dance one night, as there were often more ladies than men. Dee turned to me and said, out of the blue, like she often would, she would like to learn pole dancing. I said I had heard of ladies putting up poles in their lounge and I set the challenge to see if we could find someone in Tauranga who taught pole before next salsa night. I went straight onto the web and came across a Canadian based pole business that already had a couple of instructors operating from various places in the North Island. I made a few enquiries and before I knew it I was buying into the franchise business. I ran parties for about a year before deciding to set up my own operation as there were a number of frustrating limitations being involved with the franchise.”

Jennifer has worked hard to dispel the myth that pole dancing is only for strip clubs. “Good girls can pole dance too! Pole dancing is going from strength to strength and those that have given it a go realise that it is an excellent full body workout that requires, strength, flexibility and grace!"
